Hi, I’m Rachel

Founder and Lead Designer, Rachel Dempsey, floated her way into the floral world after moving back to Connecticut upon graduating from Philadelphia (now Jefferson) University, where she earned her B.S. in Fashion Management and Design. Rachel always has had a talent and an eye for design and color, and a love of the natural world. Once she decided to leave the fashion industry, and inspired by her mother’s love of flowers, floral design was a perfect fit to marry those aspects of her life.

In 2015, Rachel bought the Bethany Florist, which had been serving the Bethany and New Haven County community for nearly 30 years. After discovering her passion, and with a pandemic that allowed her hone her design aesthetic and focus on growing the aspect of her business that she loved the most, The Floating Dahlia was born. 

 

Rachel’s style is uniquely hers. While she is inspired by English garden design, and the unique palette of the seasons, Rachel is above all driven to achieve her clients’ vision by using a wide variety of lush blooms, romantic textures and beautiful greenery.
